July 2017 Newsletter
Happy New Fraternal Year! That is right, July is the beginning of our new fraternal year. Our newly elected officers will be taking their roles, and our council will be moving forward into the new fraternal year with a renewed sense of vigor! Let us all join together in brotherhood to make this a great year!
This is also the 4th of July. Let us take a moment to be grateful for the freedom that our forefathers secured for us, and let us take a special moment to say a prayer for all of our veterans, both here and departed, who have made sure that those freedoms continue to grace us.
Father Gabriel Council 3746
We have a lot planned for the new year, and we look forward to making this a great year for our council, our Parish and our community. We will be having our regularly scheduled meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of July (that is the 11th and 25th) at 7:00 PM in the council chambers. Please join us and get involved in our planning of events for the new year. Our council can be great, but it takes each and every one of you to join in and make it so.
We have a 2nd degree exemplification comping up on Wednesday, July 5th at 7:00 PM in the hall. If you, or someone you know, has not made their 2nd degree, please encourage them to come and rise in ranks among their Brothers. All other Brother Knights are invited to join to show their support for our Brothers.
We will be having our Installation of Officers Sunday July 16th at 1:00 PM in the hall. All newly elected officers and their significant others are invited to take part. All other council members are invited to come down and show your support for our new officers.
We will be welcoming new members at the July 25th meeting in a 1st degree exemplification. If you know anyone who would like to join our ranks, please get them a form 100 and let’s sign them up (forms are available outside the lounge door).
This past weekend the Knights helped out our Parish by directing traffic for the new parking rules outside the Church. There is no longer parking allowed on the south side of Lincoln next to the Church. Special thanks to Ed Reilly, Herman Bishop, Vito Abramowicz, Vinnie Modeen, Tom Smith and David DeFino for braving the heat and guiding the traffic.
JFK Assembly 1593
Patriotism. It is an important concept for the 4th degree of our order. As we celebrate the 4th of July, and our nations independence, be mindful of our duty to patriotism.
Our regular 4th Degree meeting has been moved from the first Monday to the 2nd Monday (July 10th) in observance of the Holiday weekend.
We will be marching in Melbourne’s 4th of July Parade, and here is a message from our Faithful Navigator about that:
The parade will be on this coming Tuesday 4 July. Its the long parade from Melbourne Ave by the railroad overpass. I’ve requested that we form up in our usual place at the south west end so we can stay in the shade. The kick off is at 1000 so show time is NLT than 0930. PJP assembly is bringing their float and Model A’s and Knights on bikes are also invited. As usual there will be beverages at the end of the parade by the Liberty Bell Museum.
Our Color Guard has taken part in many solemn ceremonies this past month, and we thank all who could attend.
Welcome back Karaoke! We will be having another Karaoke night Friday July 7th at the hall, come by and make this one better then the last. We are also planning on having Live Dixieland music on Friday, July 21st.
We would like to open the lounge more then 1 day per week, but are in need of volunteers to make this happen. If you would like to volunteer in the kitchen, please let Brother Greg Schwendeman know.
The Hall is in need of many repairs, and it will take more then 1 night of beer selling to raise the funds to fix the AC units, and replace stools. Please help us keep our Hall a vibrant place for all.
Our Lady of Lourdes Parish
